A theatrical performance inspired by a visual culture on the loose
How do teens experience, use and undergo the internet and social media? That question is the core of HACK.
Forty young creators have worked for five months on performances, memes and films. They hack social media, the arts, fear, love and life. These young creators have been coached into formulating a creative answer to a number of questions.
What is the problem with Instagram and why is everyone pretending to be better than they are? What is the impact of Facebook and Google on society? What role does an algorithm play in our choices? What is the point of all those cameras in public spaces and do they provide security? What is digital security? What do we mean by ‘digital connectivity’, by a ‘digital alter ego’? Do games replace the town square as a hang-out place? Do young people living in Ghent post different things on Instagram than the ones living in Leuven or Antwerp?
Lots of questions.
HACK is looking for answers.
